About

Forward Challenges are QDNL’s challenge-based programme, bringing together end-users, quantum companies, researchers and other partners around concrete challenges.Rather than starting with a technology and looking for an application, the programme starts with a challenge or need and explores where quantum technology can contribute. At the same time, it addresses challenges within the quantum supply chain itself.The programme aims to:<ul><li>connect quantum technology to concrete needs and applications;</li><li>bring together the right partners to develop and test new solutions;</li><li>stimulate collaboration between end-users, industry and the quantum ecosystem;</li><li>strengthen the Dutch quantum value chain.</li></ul>The programme consists currently of two complementary types of challenges: Solutions Forward Challenges and Supply Forward Challenges.

Solutions Forward Challenges connect the quantum sector to end-users in the application domain. The next challenge will address opportunities in the Infrastructure, Water, and Energy sectors.   The latest call is now OPEN.

Supply Forward Challenges focus on bottlenecks within the quantum value chain itself. They are designed to strengthen the supply side through system integration and independent benchmarking. The first challenge in this series will be the Reliable Performance Challenge, aimed at improving the reliability of integrated quantum computing systems. The challenge will launch at a later date. Stay tuned to our channels for further information.
