JTC22 publishes release 1.1 of its Standardization Roadmap on Quantum Technologies
CEN-CENELEC JTC22 has recently published release 1.1 of its Standardization Roadmap on Quantum Technologies, which can be freely downloaded here. It is a technical document that analyses market needs and associated standards timelines for quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and their enabling technologies.
Release 1.0 was published March 2023, and it is widely used at the European (e.g.: HLF Workstream 16) and international level (e.g.: IEC/ISO JTC3) to coordinate on new standard development. Release 1.1 includes recent developments, in particular the link between the European JTC22 and the international JTC3. Additionally, it provides a stable basis for coordination with ETSI.
Release 2.0 is developed by JTC22-WG1 (‘Strategic Advisory Group’), in coherence with the EC’s European Quantum Standards Roadmap (policy document), and involvement of large number of European parties such as ETSI TC Quantum, QuIC, EURAMET EMN-Q, EuroHPC and EuroQCI. Both documents are expected to be published end 2026.
