QEX awarded access to three EuroHPC quantum computers
The Quantum Excellence Centre (QEX), a European consortium that facilitates access to quantum computing technologies and infrastructure for European projects, has been granted six months of access to three EuroHPC quantum computers through the EuroHPC Quantum Access Pilot.
QEX was awarded access to three European systems featuring different quantum technologies:
EURO-Q-EXA (Germany): 53 superconducting qubits, hosted by LRZ.
VLQ (Czechia): 24 superconducting qubits, hosted by IT4Innovations.
PIAST-Q (Poland): 20 trapped-ion qubits, hosted by PCSS.
The access is significant, as it enables QEX and its partners to develop and test an open quantum benchmarking framework and compare hardware performance across different technologies. It also strengthens QEX's value by helping researchers and end users identify the most suitable solutions for their applications.
In addition, the use case work group within the QEX consortium has been separately awarded access to EURO-Q-EXA, further strengthening the project's research and application development activities and adding to its contribution.
QEX is a consortium of 15 partners coordinated by QDNL. It connects quantum expertise, infrastructure and end users to accelerate the practical adoption of quantum computing in Europe.
